Inb4 WATER IDC

My current personal schedule, but mostly mimics most people’s give or take a lil here and there :

9.5 hour shift
1 hour commute each way
.5 hour to wake up and prep for work in the am
8 hours sleep

All together, 20 hours of the day, 5 days a week instantly gone. A lot of it spent in a very uncomfortable, highly stressful and aggravating way too

God help you if you work longer hours / even more days in the week

That leaves 4 hours to get any chores or errands done that need gettin’ to, in the late afternoon/evening

Riveting stuff like groceries, laundry, housekeeping, doctors visits etc

By the time all of this is done you’re so utterly spent and defeated that all you can really do is doomscroll or call it a night and go to bed early

Weekends are a bit better but still are mostly just catching up on sleep or more chores / errands you didn’t have the time and energy for during the week

At best, you have a small handful of hours to do anything fun or meet up with peeps irl. But it’s tainted by a lack of energy from all the aforementioned and the burning knowledge that you’ll soon be back in the thick of it

You gotta do this routine for decades until you’ve accumulated enough capital to retire on a subsistence level. God forbid you have kids or need looksmax surgeries / treatments too, or want to travel or enjoy life and hobbies…

The only early out from this toil, in all likelihood, is the sweet kiss of a bullet. You’re not winning the lottery, you’re not gonna start a wildly successful business…

Tl;dr: AI + robotics powered UBI ASAP or suicide

What?? Do you live in China in some sweatshop holy brutal wtf
No USA

I’m doing an apprenticeship in commercial electrical work at large sites on the opposite side of town in the industrial areas vs the ‘burbs where I live

At least this current gig is “only” 9 hours, is normal dayshift M-F, and I’m treated somewhat humanely. My old warehouse job was graveyard and weekends, incredibly hostile work environment, and you were pressured daily to work 12+ hours (I always refused  )

the plan is to drive u into insanity, with all this modern technology we should be able to work less and earn more, all this shit has nothing to do with productivity

just drive the human population into insanity for no benefit theory
no, it's to extract as much labour as possible for the least amount of money, basic capitalism

Well unfortunately the trades do not give a single FUCK and kick anyone to the curb who doesn’t comply

It’s to the point I am deathly afraid of requesting 2 weeks off to get my first surgeries next summer but I have to do something for my looks

I actually have it very EASY compared to most in this industry. Set hours, indoors, no insane forced OT, a physically lighter trade…

There’s nothing I can do that is as guaranteed income as this. For example if I’m really strapped for cash I can pick up a Saturday and instantly on the next check make an extra 200+. Where else could I possibly get a return like that?

you're an autist who bases his idea of the world on video games
I am not saying this to an insult you but to make you realize how ridiculous it is

This is basic capitalism, Andrew Carnegie wrote in his autobiography that "yeah I wish I could feed my workers more so they can afford what they want and live comfortably, but if I do, my competitors will out earn me and I will receive less investments, leading to me owning less capital" [paraphrasing]
This has been true since the birth of capitalism and neoliberalism, there is no master plan, there is no larger than life plot. It's literally just extracting as much labour for the least amount of money
The real world is plain and boring and brutal, it's not like the video games you play designed to entertain

well i mean making content online is literally 0 cost and it would be much better time spent than being on org. i posted very low quality videos last year and got like 350k views on youtube but lost motivation.

One day you'll get a cute wife and it will all be worth it. Once you come home to your wife waiting for you at the door. You'll be filled with the enthusiasm and happiness and would want to work more to make her even more happy

Rotting here can be done passively in the background during everything else and is a good fun cope

Making videos is very low ROI for all but the top of the top %

Maybe one day in the matrix simulation I’m helping build the physical infrastructure for

Yes but there are many things you can do for a fraction of the time you spend here

I strongly disagree, you can make small amounts of money with low effort videos, it doesn't even hurt to try if you're basically living a depressed life

Okay I get what you mean but respectfully bro, the thought of having to devote even more time and energy to making money than I already do would send me over the edge

I just don’t see the return. Might as well work that OT

My copes in my free time are what maintain my sanity

To build a passive income stream separate from work unironically the boomer advice of stuffing your retirement accounts with as much cash as you can spare is sound

Oh but wait I was born with a genetic debt of like 50k worth of facial surgeries to fix first, just to be a strong MTN, so can’t even do that yet

Not really

4k/mo gross

3k/mo net

2k/mo expenses (everything but rent)

So 1k/mo to play with

That will rise to 2k/mo spare after I top out of the program and make full hourly rate

so if you had to rent you wouldn't be able to? And you work 10 hours a day? That's crazy
Would you mind telling me how come you spend 2k a month and what type of a program that is? Do you have a degree for that?
Really interested how it is in the US.

It’s 9 hours, .5 is unpaid lunch

23/hr currently

The 2k is an average and obv can fluctuate up or down, and comes from
- Auto (monthly payment, insurance, gas)
- Groceries
- Medical (insurance + weekly allergy shot treatments currently)
- Student loans (failed college attempt)
- Phone bill
- Toiletries stock up
- Softmaxxing expenses (skincare, hair loss meds, botox etc)
- Copes (music/movie streaming subs, fast food, alc jfl)

If I cut down to the absolute bare minimum needed to survive in the event I was facing homelessness or something it would be more like 1.2-1.5k / mo but my QoL would suffer massively and so would my already shit looks

But all in all I save at least 30% of my post tax income

It’s a union trades program. One of the lower paid ones but I intentionally chose it because the work is less likely to cripple me by 40 than others

Become an electrical engineer or something actually useful. Even a qualified electrician can do well

I think licensed sparky / tech is as high as I’ll climb but who knows what I’ll think down the line after 10+ years of this shit
