If you've spent atleast a month on this forum, DNR this whole thread since most of the stuff ill be talking about is water
also this is my first guide so chill on me. :feelswhy:

Introduction:
Even though south asians have great skin genetics, unfortunately a lot of them wont ever utilize this advantage. This is bc most of them have a stubborn tan thats been built up through years of sun exposure. the good news is that this isnt permanent and can be fully reversed in most cases. In this thread ill be showing you ways you can completely return to your original skin tone or potentially go even lighter than that.
If you read and actually apply all the things mentioned in this thread, you could potentially yield results like this.

Before we start, lets talk about how tanning actually works

Your skin color is mainly determined by melanin, a pigment produced by cells called melanocytes. Your genetics determine how much melanin ur naturally programmed to produce, but UV radiation from the sun stimulates your melanocytes to make even more melanin, hence developing a tan. For people of color, years of built up sun exposure can make skin cells overactive in melanin production. The only way to get rid of these cells is by waiting for your body to naturally shed them, which takes years jfl :lul:, or by using products that speed up your skins cell turnover rate.

Retinoids
This is where retinoids like tretinoin and tazarotene come into play. These retinoids increase ur skins cell turnover rate or how fast ur skin sheds old skin cells and renews itself. Why does this matter? Because over the span of few weeks or months, it can completely shed all the overactive skin cells that make you look dark and shitty. apart from get rid of overactive cells, they also provide great anti aging benefits, making ur skin look brighter and less wrinklier than others ur age.

Side effects: you might fuck up ur skin if ur not careful ie break ur skin barrier. Peeling and flaking is a very common side effects of applying retinoids.
Reducing side effects: you can do something called a sandwich method, apply moisturizer before applying the retinoid, wait 15 min to apply the retinoid, then wait 10-15 to apply moisturizer again. this can lessen the flaking and peeling by a ton but might also reduce the effect of the retinoid and also slober ur face with moisturizer throughout the day. and in order to not break ur skin barrier, start off slow (ill be explaining what starting off "slow" is later in the thread).

Tretinoin is is a prescription strength retinoid derived from vitamin A. It works by binding to retinoic acid receptors in your skin cells, increasing cellular turnover and promoting faster shedding of old skin cells. (yes i used ai for the definition). Most common percentages used are 0.025%, 0.05% and 0.1%. you need to apply a pea sized amount to ur whole face at night

Tazarotene is another prescription strength retinoid derived from vitamin A. It is considered one of the more potent topical retinoids and works similarly to tretinoin by increasing skin cell turnover and regulating how skin cells develop. Most common percentages used are 0.05% and 0.1%. you need to apply a pea sized amount to ur whole face at night

How do these two retinoids differ?
In simple terms, tazarotene is wayyyy stronger than tretinoin and increases cell turnover rate at a more rapid pace. This isnt always good for starters since you need to let your skin gradually get used to retinoids or youll nuke your skin barrier (stratum corneum)

When it comes to retinoids, generally ppl start off slow like 0.025% tret 2-3 times a week (starting off slow). However, since you're a dirty curry and you have thick, oily, musty skin, you can start off with 0.05% 4x a week and if you're not noticing any peeling or flaking, even every night. Since im so special and tuff, im an exception, i started off with 0.1% tret every night and I barely had any peeling or flaking :feelshah:

As i mentioned earlier, this process of shedding the overactive skin cells takes a few weeks or months even through the help of retinoids. Now if only we had something that we could use to temporarily stop these cells from producing so much melanin while our retinoids will help shed them. Of course we do boyo

Tyrosinase Inhibitors
Tyrosinase is an enzyme found inside melanocytes that plays a crucial role in the production of melanin. Think of it as one of the main "switches" that tells your skin cells to start making pigment. When your skin is exposed to UV radiation, tyrosinase activity increases, leading to more melanin production and eventually a darker tan. Now in order to inhibit this enzyme, we have quite a few options but ill be mentioning two of the best products that can help in doing so. Keep in mind, these tyrosinase inhibitors can block even your body's natural melanin production and not only the overactive cells so even once ur done completely getting rid of the tan, u can still apply the following products if you still remain dark. and obv it only blocks melanin while you keep applying it and ur body goes back to ur normal melanin production if u stop applying it.

Hydroquinone is one of the most powerful tyrosinase inhibitors available and is often considered the gold standard for treating hyperpigmentation. By reducing tyrosinase activity, hq slows down melanin production at the source, meaning your melanocytes produce less pigment over time. this also, obviously takes a few days or weeks to see results. You can apply a 4% concentration of this product 4x a week only if ur skins tolerating the tret well but even if its not, you can still do it 2x a week at night. You should NOT be applying this everyday because of its

Side effects: Onchronosis, permanent, dark discoloration of the skin. only way to remove is through some sort of surgery cant remb but yeah its pretty bad
Reducing side effects: as i said, dont apply it everyday and even when ur applying 4x a week, dont go over 3 months doing this. ideally 2-3 months of 4x a week of application. after the 3 month mark, take a break for like 1-2 months before u start applying it again.

"Now what do i do within those 1-2 months, would i lose all my progress :cry:" of course not my little retard :owo:. you can apply

Azelaic Acid in the meanwhile or even WHILE applying hq. this product is also a pretty strong tyrosinase inhibitor but weaker than hq. it also has anti inflammatory and anti bacterial properties. yes this is a very tuff product. common percentages include 10%, 15%, and 20%. js get a 20% tube of the gel (since gels r more penetrating than creams) and apply every morning.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Bc i have a very low attention span from all those tiktoks i watch, im tired of reading saar, please just give me a routine i should do" okay fine :feelswhy:

This is the SAFEST route by far to apply the products i mentioned.

PM routine (night)
  • Rinse face with water, or a very mild cleanser.
  • Make sure you're face is COMPLETELY dry (dont ask me why, js listen to daddy)
  • Apply pea sized amount of tretinoin 0.025% 2-3x a week.
  • Wait 5-10 min
  • Apply a thin layer of Hydroquinone 4% to whole face. 2-3x a week (on the nights you dont apply tretinoin)
  • Wait 15-20 min
  • Apply moisturizer (preferrably w a hemcutante) to whole face.
  • go to sleep nigga.
AM routine (day)
  • Rinse face with water, or a very mild cleanser
  • Make sure you're face is COMPLETELY dry
  • Apply a thin layer of Azelaic Acid 15% to whole face everyday
  • Wait 5-10 min
  • Apply moisturizer
  • APPLY A SPF 50 MINERAL SUNSCREEN (very fucking important or you'll risk your face being even darker permanently) (mineral sunscreen is less irritating)
At the point when you get zero peeling or irritation you can increase tretinoin to daily. When you dont get peeling from that, you can start applying tretinoin 0.5%. so and so keep titrating up to tretinoin 0.1% everyday w minimal to no peeling and hydroquinone 4% 4x weekly w no peeling or irritation. once you're skin is completely able to tolerate all 3 of the products, move up to tazarotene 0.05%, then 0.1%. BTW do NOT forget to stop applying hq after 2-3 months or deal w onchronosis for the rest of ur life :lul::lul:. hop back on if u want after 1-2 months of break but most dont have to since azelaic acid maintains the results.

SOURCING:
If you're in the US, tretinoin, tazarotene and hydroquione require a prescription and obviously u can get these prescripted with ease, but dont let these ngas charge you 10-15$, sometimes even $70 (yes ik a nga that paid $70 for a singular tube of tret) for a 1$ product you can get off of IndiaMART. js go on indiamart (a b2b marketpace) and contact the jeet w a lot of reviews and whos been exporting for a few years with the stuff you want. ideally get a few tubes of tret, azelaic acid, and hq all in one order since u dont wanna keep paying $25-$35 for shipping per order. Also make sure to not buy too many tubes or they'll expire.

Conclusion:
Yes this will ascend you by a ton, being a darkskin indian is genuinely a horrible fate no one should go through it so follow everything i mentioned and enjoy your new halo :love: also rep if it helped you thanks
