I made this thread around last year when the Trump announced that there was a $100k fee to the H1B visa

I was worried for some time but already started seeing the ripple effects within a few months
It's been like a year and what has happened, it went down exactly like what I had predicted. H1B visas did go down
USCIS eligible registrations:
FY2025: ~470,000
FY2026: ~344,000 (โ27%)
FY2027: ~211,600 (โ38.5% from FY26)
While opening a new GCC center in Hyderabad and hires over 1000 employees
Same story for other companies also. I will just let the headlines do the talking since people told me to shut up. Also notice the date all of them are in 2026
So this is what happened and how it unfolded in a year and I am just posting about it in India. Same story in other countries also GCCs and jobs also moved to Poland, Canada, China, Phillipines etc. When there was no limit the jobs atleast stayed in the US and were competitive. But the fees completely killed the competition.
H1B visas did go down but so did the jobs at much higher rate just as I had already said. Same story Glennon documented years ago. Block the visa, the multinational hires the person overseas instead.
And even still companies are offering h1bs. Even in the company I work at people are still being offered the Visa and are being flown in. Even I was offered the ticket too and even after all this trouble it got taken down by a judge in the court of appeals last month
So nothing really has changed. Literally exactly to square 1. What many people don't understand is that High skilled workers are not farm labourers that can be replaced so easily with a new set of hands. You might it but it's simply a fact The new 60 day grace period erasing even if it passes won't change much but If you are from India, Poland, Canada,Mexico Phillipines and China tho, be sure to thank Mr Trump for this gift.
