In Silicon Valley there's a culture of relentless hyper optimization treating everything from work to daily routines as a engineering problem. When I was there I regularly saw people that were living almost entirely on Soylent and Huel. Im not joking. I legit thought it was just memes but there are people who actually live like this. My mind was blown when I first saw people like that.

My third world brain genuinely struggled to process it. It reminded me of army cadet days when we considered ourselves lucky to get MRE packets meals that everyone universally hated. Tasted like wet cement, mystery meat and cough syrup yet there are people here with high 6 figure 7 figure salaries who were choosing the liquid equivalent by choice.

As long as itโ€™s marketed as โ€œhealthyโ€ people would eat anything processed

I feel like the Silicon Valley culture was always trying to push some quirky image.

As they werenโ€™t like the other white-collar finance bros or some chemist working for the government. Silicon Valley was a place where they wanted to push an image of peace (in a sense). And I feel like that plant-based, cruelty-free slop. That just gets pumped at a high price point because it uses whatever healthy buzzwords are in it. Was the perfect fuel for Silicon Valley to latch onto!

Feel like it was a form of anti-culture as dumb as that is. Niggas are behind a laptop all day and reaching for a fucking wheat bar and kombucha.

I agree the taste was good ngl. I think it's cheap crowd seems to legitimately view it as a meal replacement and in that sense it is cheap. But I like eating. eating is some of the joys of life. people get together over food and reducing it to sludge is not good imo

This sounds the closest to what I was thinking as well, although you explained it far better.

What I believe is that a lot of those Techy Types and even many high level Business Moguls are soo busy and
driven by Greed that they see sitting and having Food almost as a "chore" which hampers Productivity and soo
whatever Meal is available with less effort to consume that is functional they will simply opt for.If that makes any
sense.

I think that's lame as fuck. Food is joy.Food is culture. It has history, connection. It brings people together. Taking the life out of something like this is miserable

I'm like this, except I avoid everything that's excessively processed. I also avoid seed oils even though they've been researched to the ground. If I have no real incentive to consume them, there's no reason not to mitigate any potential harm. Scientists have frequently labeled retarded substances as safe, so you might as well avoid what you can. BPA used to have a TDI 20,000 times higher than it does now. I apply the same principle to everything food related, though I don't panic if I have to eat some slop whenever necessary yk
