In this forum I see a lot of jokes regarding the Somali phenotype and how they're all boneless and recessed, and although that is generally true, I think that there is something very interesting that could be found when studying Somalis/horners
In Ancient history, groups such as Somalis, Afars, and many other Horn Africans were actually documented as being incredibly good-looking, as they were known for their exceptional height, lean physiques, and distinctive facial features that juxtaposed their dark, tanned skin, and when looking at older photographs from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, you can observe how developed they truly were
Now I know you're probably thinking that I'm just cherrypicking attractive people who were likely royals in that ancient era but I promise you I'm not, if you compare these people with royals/high status individuals for western/central africans you can still see how much more attractive the horners were compared to them. You can literally search up ancient somali vs ancient western/central african and you can view it yourself but in case you're too lazy here you go:
If you compare these Africans, with the horners I showed previously, aside from the last guy everyone gets mogged to hell, and if you take into account that horners were around 6'0 while other west/central africans were 5'6, the last guy would probably look like a bitch next to them. In fact, basically ever ethnicity back then would be cucked by them, as the Romans yall worship on this forum were like 5'5 on average.
So now that we're aware of how much of a mogger ancient Somalis were, the only question we could ask is what happened?
Research consistently shows that childhood nutrition affects ones height, bone density, dental arch (palate) width, and bone robusticity. However, Something significant began changing during the mid-20th century.
Across much of the Horn of Africa, traditional pastoral lifestyles started to decline, as populations moved into towns and cities to seek a less demanding lifestyle. Walking was reduced, children spent less time outdoors, and traditional food systems became harder to maintain. Additionally, many civil wars began to sprout all around that area, leading to mass starvation as well as the loss of animals that were deemed as more important than their lives. With trade routes increasing, imported grains such as rice, pasta, flour, sugar, and refined grains were deemed as a more efficient way to resolve hunger, as not only was it cheaper, but also did not require any maintenance like herding did; and as populations increased, the amount of animals was not enough for the horner people.
Habits
With the diet of horners becoming more grain inclined, the nutrients found in meat that once gave them their esteemed looks faded away. Softer foods like bariis (rice) and Baasto (pasta) barely need chewing to be digested, narrowing their palate and subsequently their jaw, creating the infamous "Somali" look that is constantly mocked today
(THESE AREN'T THE SAME PEOPLE BTW)
- One possible explanation is that Horn Africans historically occupied a developmental "high point."
There is a Roman proverb that says "It is easy to fall, but hard to rise", and I think this fits this situation perfectly. Horners occupied a developmental "high point" compared to every other group (With the exception of Native Americans), so if a population begins with excellent nutrition, high physical activity, and strong health conditions, then a decline in those factors can produce visible effects exponentially across generations. In contrast, populations that have already endured centuries of poor nutrition (for example China) may show less dramatic changes because developmental constraints were already present and adapted into their genetics
- Another explanation could be the general facial structure of a horner.
Before modernization horners have always had a narrower, taller skall than other population, and as you can see in the photo, even in a developed face that narrow skull shape is still evident. My theory as to why horners are unattractive nowadays is that being recessed looks far worse on a narrow skull than on a wider one, as when your face is narrow, there's less room for fat to hide your recessed features, making you look uglier than someone who is just as recessed as you, but can hide it with fat. This is why I think if you're extremely recessed you shouldn't lean max, otherwise you'll end up looking like this
First long post in a while and ik there some grammatic errors but any criticism/things to improve on will be much appreciated, thank you

Traditional Lifestyle
In ancient times, Horn Africans mainly lived as pastoralists who herded Camels, goats, and cattle. Due to the barren, desert landscape of countries like Somalia, they heavily relied on animal produce to survive, as their diets were heavily based on animal products like camel milk, goat milk, sheep milk, meat, and animal fat, with the average diet only consisting of drinking milk and walking extremely long distances to cater to their animals. In addition, food scarcity often meant that animals were used efficiently, so the bone marrow of animals were eating to not waste any part of the animal that they deemed as edible. Traditional diets therefore supplied many of the nutrients necessary for optimal development, allowing for them to gain the most nutrients as possible, while simultaneously also burning calories by walking in the sun for elongated periods of time. Compared to the fairly sedentary lifestyle of a Roman plebeian, which consisted of eating grain bread and working as a blacksmith or baker, it is clear which person would've evolved to become attractive.Modernization and The Fall of Horner Facial Aesthetics
Height and craniofacial development are mainly influenced by genetics, but genetics can be stunted if not equipped with a solid lifestyleResearch consistently shows that childhood nutrition affects ones height, bone density, dental arch (palate) width, and bone robusticity. Why Did the Change Seem So Rapid?
Now there are still attractive horner males just like there are attractive people in every ethnicity, but it is still incredible how quickly they descended; so what could explain this recent change in the horner look?- One possible explanation is that Horn Africans historically occupied a developmental "high point."

Conclusion
The decline of traditional pastoral lifestyles, increasing urbanization, dietary transitions, conflict, population pressures, and changing childhood environments may collectively explain why ancient Horn African populations appear far more attractive than their modern counterparts, so if you're a Horner/Somali, start eating meat and drinking milk, you have the potential to look like your ancestors, other ethnicities like India and China have been fucked by mass starvation and shitty grain diets for far longer than you, you literally have a genetic head start so use it.First long post in a while and ik there some grammatic errors but any criticism/things to improve on will be much appreciated, thank you
