Let me introduce myself: I am an older male who has undergone numerous procedures over the last 12 years, particularly involving my jaw and chin. During this time, I have traveled all around the world and met with many surgeons in various countries, some of whom have operated on me.
While some of these procedures went well, a lot of them turned out poorly or just weren't good enough, forcing me to get revisional surgeries. As a result, I have seen alot, gained alot of experience (sometimes confusion), and watched my face change multiple times. I understand the profound social impact a person's facial appearance can have.
My face is not easy to work with. I have some asymmetries, especially around the jaw area, and my masseter muscle is quite challenging. Naturally, my face is rather oval and lacks sharp angularity.
i would say that at my peak, I reached a maximum of around 6 PSL. At my lowest point, after my worst procedure, I would guess I dropped to a 3.5. You can guess that was absolute nightmare, and there were times I thought I would never be able to recover from it.
Based on my experience, I know the dangers these procedures can pose to aesthetics and how easily things can go wrong. I have personally experienced both reaching my peak and the downfall that comes with wanting more.
I know the struggle of battling the urge to go further, trying to look even better, mogging others, and so on. Over the years, I have come to know many surgeons and designers, some of them personally.
There are many secrets and pitfalls in this industry that a lot of you might not be aware of.
I have also witnessed the evolution of these procedures over time. For example, the shift from silicone implants to PEEK, and now the transition to bio-layered PEEK, to address issues caused by standard PEEK, such as permanent inflammation and periodic facial bloating. Problems that are only now coming to light as more patients experience them.
The revision rate with jaw implants is 70%. That's a huge percentage. It stems from different reasons. The cosmetic industry is still quite new, it's still evolving. It's getting better, but it's far from perfect yet. There are other reasons too.
