Leo Frank was a jewish construction worker who murdered 13 year old Mary Phagan on April 26th, 1913. He raped and murdered her and tried to defame a black man for the crime but, the crime was so grotesque that even the KKK didn't believe the jewish man. That's when the ADL was formed, to protect Leo Frank and the jewish people from critique.
