Just 50-60 years ago. WASP(White Anglo-Swxon Protestants) were the elite old-money class that held massive influence ober American institutions.

U.S. presidents, senators, and Supreme Court justices were almost exclusively WASPs - think Bush, Reagan, even FDR.Politics has become more diverse - Obama (Black), Biden (Irish Catholic roots), Harris (South Asian), and increasing representation of Jews, Catholics, Hindus, Muslims, etc.

WASPs once dominated Ivy League schools, Wall Street, law firms, and media empires. Now, elite institutions are more meritocratic and multicultural and WASPs are no longer dominant.

Most WASPs these days are in mountains of debt and living in old run down mansion with 0 future prospects. WASP women that they gate kept from the world for so long are now actively marrying catholics and racemixing with ethnics. Converting, diluting the identity further.
