Title. As of right now gene editing is tightly controlled and in its infant stages, but we know that it works and is capable removing down syndrome as well as other genetic defects.
When it eventually does become refined and available to the public, it will inevitably change our perspective on reproduction. If we assume the wealthiest in society will have first access, this will mean that their children will be demonstrably superior to the children of the average person. Right now there is already a gap due to wealthy individuals being able to provide a good environment for their kids. So, they will have both nature and nurture on their side. Imagine being lorded over by a bunch of True Adam billionaires :feelswhy:. That's just the worst case scenario though, or best case depending on perspective. It MIGHT be over for poorcels.
