Definitely the latter. Among other reasons! Some other stuff too. I deal with existential crises sometimes and don't want to pass that on either. It's a part of the human experience and exactly why I should avoid having kids at all costs. Even if it means a lifetime of loneliness.

I’m lucky I have siblings so the pressure of having a kid so my parents can be grandparents is taken off. When I think about it, having kids really sets up a lot of milestones in life. Forces you to earn more, live in a space you don’t need, sacrifice years of your life etc etc.

I just wonder if losing that sense of fulfilment can be found in other places. Hedonism is nice for a while, but I would like some longer lasting sense of peace/achievement

You know I do believe in Islam but deep down I think when we die it's all the end, no heaven or hell. But if there's a hell then I'm definitely going there. It sucks but it is what it is.
