Two big updates from the world of hair loss treatments.
1. Clascoterone blocks androgens directly at the receptor. No systemic exposure. 539% relative improvement in hair count vs placebo in Phase 3.
2. Rezpegaldesleukin targets autoimmune hair loss at the root. Activates Treg cells to stop your immune system attacking follicles. FDA Fast Track. 28-30% reduction in alopecia severity in 36 weeks.
The old standard (minoxidil, finasteride) was discovered by accident and hasn't fundamentally changed in 30 years. Minoxidil was a blood pressure drug and Finasteride was a prostate drug. Neither was designed for hair. The two new treatments cited above, clascoterone and rezpegaldesleukin, are the first purpose-built mechanisms.
Research on these peptide combinations is compelling. A placebo-controlled trial on a follistatin/VEGF/KGF mixture showed 20% improvement in visible hair density at 22 weeks, sustained at one year. A separate trial on GHK showed 71.5 new hairs/cm² at six months, 7.5x over placebo.
