I’ve noticed recently that there’s an abundance of movies that show a future where something went wrong and the worlds fucked up now but I can’t really find a lot a movies showing more positive futures besides films intended for a younger audience. I feel like it’s good to commentate on the world’s problems, but said commentary shouldn’t be every movie about the future. And why is it so mature to be negative and nihilistic about everything? Why can’t there be more people who believe in a future, not ones full of wrongs but one full of rights. I understand people may find it difficult to enjoy things in such a pessimistic society but the world is beautiful, it doesn’t have to bad. It doesn’t have to be negative all the goddamn time. People need more hope, and all the worlds doing is kicking them down telling them there idea of a good future is immature, childish, and ignorant. I truly wish people would help more and bring others up, but with popular media today and very hard to do so. I understand it may be hindrance to help out with no reward but imagine how much helping an old lady, helping with your neighbors yard, picking up trash around your local beach, or even just volunteer at a homeless shelter may positively impact someone’s day. If you call me childish for wanting a better future, I fully understand where your coming from. But when I say I want people to be better, I hope you can fully understand where I’m coming from.

While I appreciate the sentiment of it, I feel we’ve gotten so obsessed with it, dystopian fiction seems to drown out all other kinds of interpretations of the future
