there are people who need to hear this and im pretty suprised its not common knowlage
There is more to life than lifting weights and the gym.
I'm seeing a spike of multiple people who are older and younger then me going to the gym im talking about how the gym is all they care about and how there's nothing more to life than just lifting. And it's a little bit concerning. The gym should improve your life It shouldn't be your life. And it comes from a lot of people who just don't really understand this whole idea of life isnt so simple and just moderation in general. The logic comes from, well, the gym is good. So if I center my life around the gym and make the gym the only thing that really matters to me, then surely my life should be good, right?
Well, I hate to break it to you but unfortunately, it's not that simple. you can't have too much of a good thing. And if you don't deal with all the stuff going on in your head, going to the gym won't fix that. It might temporarily soothe what you're going through, but it's not a remedy for deep internalized issues. And if taken to the extreme, and if the gym is the only thing that you do and care about, then you'll start to ignore areas of your life which in the first place you really shouldn't be neglecting, and that will ultimately detriment your mental health.
people get surprised when I tell them, hey, yeah, im gonna pick my options
I like To read philosophy in my spare time.
I like to draw pictures. I like to game .
So many different things that just don't involve the gym.
And so many people look at that and they try to convince me to start going to the gym 24/7 like its a full time job without pay.
I do like the gym, but I also love other things. And I understand that the gym isn't an all encompassing remedy. You shouldn't let the gym deprive you of other hobbies and other experiences in your life. Goes back to the point. The gym should make your life better. It shouldn't consume or become your life. It'll definitely help with things like confidence if you struggle with that, maybe, but it won't just completely fix all the deep rooted and internalized issues that you have.
dont let the gym consume you
