Hedonic treadmill - Wikipedia
The hedonic treadmill, also known as hedonic adaptation, is the observed tendency of humans to quickly return to a relatively stable level of happiness despite major positive or negative events or life changes.
This shit is the reason why if you are not happy rn you will never be, unless if you are in a temporary state of misery. I am pretty sure an unideal baseline of happiness comes from childhood and now you are destinated to always get back to this baseline.
No surgery for you, no girlfriend for you, no money for you, no sex for you, nothing will makes you happier long term. If you were always unhappy and try to get out of it you can already clench the rope...
