The High Effort DIY Filler Bible

dw kiddo i got you

Introduction

Embarking on a journey of self-destruction through at-home fillers is going to require more than just a death wish. You are going to need meticulous planning, questionable life choices, and a strong stomach. This guide will walk you through the process of sourcing, injecting, and praying your way into either facial improvement or permanent disfigurement.

This guide is my attempt to distill two years worth of research, trial, and error into actionable advice for those brave enough to embark on this journey themselves

DO NOT OVERFILL: How Greed Turns People into Balloons

The first lesson any filler newbie must learn is that more is not better. Injectors will rarely say "enough is enough" when there’s money to be made. Their acclimation to over-filled faces (and obvious profit motive) means they’ll push for quantities that would make even Michael Jackson cringe

Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers are hydrophilic; they’ll attract water like your aunt at an all-you-can-eat buffet, swelling far beyond their original volume within days. Start small-1-3ml-and wait for initial swelling to settle before reassessing your needs.

  • Underfilled: Subtle enhancement with natural contours preserved
  • Overfilled: Puffy, unnatural appearance with loss of definition

3. Know Your Fillers Before They Know You

Hyaluronic acid is one of the only reversible fillers. It’s reversible with hyaluronidase if shit goes catastrophically wrong (and trust me-it can). Permanent fillers like Sculptra or Radiesse? No thanks-you don’t want irreversible blindness or granulomas forming.

Different HA fillers have varying properties:

  • Soft Fillers: Ideal for lips/eyes where subtlety matters
  • Firm Fillers: Better suited for structural areas like cheeks/chin
Some require waiting weeks post-injection before final results are visible while others show immediate effects after swelling subsides.

Sourcing

Your filler journey begins with AliExpress where 4-star ratings are as meaningful as participation trophies. Look for "Hyaluronic Acid Filler" from sellers like Neuramis, Profhilo, or Revolax (brands that might not be entirely counterfeit). For $50, you’ll get 10ml of mysterious gel-enough to turn your nasolabial folds into pillow forts or your lips into those of an inflated sex doll. Always read reviews from verified purchasers; if they mention "no lumps" or "natural results," it’s probably rat poison.

permanent fillers are more susceptible to complications from infections. Your body is also more likely to trigger an immune response (such as granulomas forming) as it is more likely to recognise permanent fillers as foreign agents compared to HA, which is naturally produced.

Pre-Injection Sterilization

Wipe everything down with alcohol pads-your needles (27g is standard), syringes (1cc Luer-Lock), and for your filthy hands. Sterile gloves from Amazon ($15/100) should add a little bit of professionalism to your amateur hour.

Understanding Facial Anatomy

Before you start stabbing yourself with needles, grasp basic anatomy:

  • Nasolabial Folds: The creases between nose and mouth where smiles go to die.
1786849208929

  • Marionette Lines: From mouth corners to chin-the map lines of perpetual sadness.

1786849225173

Fillers aren’t about filling every crease-they’re about balance and proportionality. Weak chin? Address it with deep filler near the bone, not surface-level puffs that make you look feminine or worse-like you stuffed your mouth with marshmallows during puberty rites in some obscure tribe where bloating was considered sexy.

1786849250985

Cheekbones: High placement near the orbit and lateral toward the hairline is key-not too forward or wide

1786849269596

Injection Techniques

Two methods:

1. Linear Threading: Slowly push filler along folds while advancing the needle a technique, requires patience

2. Bolus Technique: One big dump followed by massaging-it’s faster but risks turning you into a human stress ball.

Dosing

Start with 0.1-0.2ml per site unless you want permanent damage or hyaluronidase emergency visits ($500/pop). Overfilling turns nasolabial folds into chipmunk cheeks-ideal for storing nuts during winter.

Step-by-Step Injection Guide

Nasolabial Folds
Target Area: The deep creases between nose and mouth.
Filler Type: Soft HA fillers (e.g., Restylane, Belotero).
Quantity: 0.5-1ml per fold (start small-overfilling here is tragic).Technique: Linear threading along the fold depth, then massage gently to distribute.

Cheekbones
Target Area: High on the cheekbone, near the orbit, lateral toward hairline.
Filler Type: Firm HA fillers (e.g., Voluma, Radiesse).
Quantity: 1-2ml per cheekbone-more for structural support, less for subtle lift.
Technique: Deep bolus injection near bone structure followed by firm massage to sculpt definition.

3. Chin
Target Area: Mentalis muscle at chin tip and pre-jowl sulcus along jawline.
Filler Type: Firm HA or calcium hydroxylapatite fillers.
Quantity: Chin: 1-2ml; Jawline: 2-4ml split in multiple sites.
Technique: Deep bolus injections at mentalis muscle followed by linear threading along jawline defects.
