The idea of going to hell when we die isn't as scary as the idea of nothing happening when we die

I was rewatching The Sopranos, and going back in the final scene, it's the main character eating and vibing with his family in a restaurant with music playing when all of a sudden the screen turn black and the music stops, he was shot and killed but we don't see it from our POV. We see it from his POV. It happend and all is black and silent.

This is just scary to me because being dead and there's nothing after death is more scary than the idea of being burned to hell or going to heaven with 72 virgins

being dead sounds comfy
i can only imagine it was something like before we were born
just a void of oblivion

Nothing happening after death is the best case scenario imo.

Idc whether you think religion is cope or not but having the belief that there is life after death is the most comforting and warm feeling in life @TRUE_CEL

would rather there be nothing than something. You can fear something. You cant fear nothing.

Honestly I am religious but I still can't shake off the feeling that nothing's gonna happen when we die and it's very scary, I agree with @alriodai in that regard..

Why be scared? Either god is real and we rejoice in the afterlife or we just fade away into nothingness. Win/win situation tbqh.

But you'll never see your loved ones ever again, once they're gone, they'll be gone forever. How is that not scary? How is that not utterly depressing and bleak? Maybe religion was indeed a cope after all. :feelsrope:

I'm 100% religious but I can't make myself believe there's an afterlife, yet believing in concepts such as heaven and hell. I don't know why this is the case?

Cope. I'd rather not exist than burn and suffer in a eternal lake of fire
Ideal afterlife is reincarnation, especially to another universe
There's a high possibility that there is a place of punishment awaiting most after death tho

Why not? If there is an afterlife then we have to be placed somewhere and the only way we can be placed somewhere is determined by our time here hence why good people go to heaven and bad people go to hell.

Not sure what to comment but I will leave you with this.

If you use the 'sayings' that nothing happens/changes in existence then your life will continue after death in some form as it once did. However, if "things do change/happen" then any existence after one's death, where ever he finds himself, will be only temporary before he moves elsewhere like in this life.

A friend of mine who studies anthropology, religion and the occult w/ a scholarship said something intriguing, I paraphrase, that even if you were subjected to an "eternal hellfire" the pain experinced would likely at somepoint subside assuming nothing lasts forever and things change in existence.

The problem is not me not believing in heaven or hell, I do believe these things. However, I honestly feel like after death there's nothing; just pure nothingness. DESPITE being religious. It's hard to explain bhai..

Go to a sheikh or a local mosque and speak to them if you feel it's something you want to get an answer on

Your consciousness depends a lot on the state of your body and brain
Which will be destroyed st the moment of your death
.

So you won't experience an empty void but it's likely that you will experience nothing at all it's

The universe is 13 billion years old and you are just alive now
So for 13 billion years you didn't exist and didn't even know about that

I doubt they can help me. :( They'll just label me a kafir at heart.

its only scary when u left no blood and died child less.

Yes you will be dead but you won't feel yourself being dead. Your brain just dies and that's it. What I'm more worried about is dying without having made any experiences or memories.

I mean would it matter if you forget all about it after death?

Hell is so bad that you wish you didn’t exist

Nah it wouldn't - but then you can make the argument that nothing matters, since we're going to die anyway. That's the foundation of nihilism.

It would just make me very, very sad that I wasn't able to enjoy my life properly. I'd die with a broken heart, instead of dying peacefully.

Cause its impossible to have any regret so why would it matter that it didn't matter

U wont feel anything anymore so u wont care about anything. Just relax, feel like a good way cause u finally will rest with no worries and regrets.

thats why being high inhibition npc is the worst thing u can do in life

Yeah bro guaranteed there's nothing after we die we just succumb into nothingness jfl... So basically all those pedos/murders who were never got caught are going to die a peaceful death? No eternal justified punshiment?

On the other hand we got those who were unfortunate, whether they are they rape/murderers victims or terminal illness again they just go without any kind of compensation?

I refuse to believe and I don't believe this type of philosophy, there must be something and it does exist.

There is no such thing as nothing because of this after you die something happens, most probably whatever makes you you will be reformed after eons and eons of the universe expanding and contracting on itself multiple times then you will be reborn to live yet another life of inceldom most probably as a different species, maybe in an existence with different physical properties than the ones that exist now in this universe.
