The idea of going to hell when we die isn't as scary as the idea of nothing happening when we die
I was rewatching The Sopranos, and going back in the final scene, it's the main character eating and vibing with his family in a restaurant with music playing when all of a sudden the screen turn black and the music stops, he was shot and killed but we don't see it from our POV. We see it from his POV. It happend and all is black and silent.
This is just scary to me because being dead and there's nothing after death is more scary than the idea of being burned to hell or going to heaven with 72 virgins
