Lookspill isn't just about people. It's about EVERYTHING. Especially consumer culture.
Notice how when somebody markets a product, the market is almost entirely about presenting the product in an athestically pleasing manner.
Here's the ultimate example: Cars.
Almost nobody except maybe hardcore car enthusists give a single shit about how their car actually functions. It's all about apperances. About what it looks like. This is why the most expensive cars feature things like smooth curves, elborate shapes, etc. Nobody wants a glorified tractor even if the latter is 10x more useful.
It's the same with other products. Nobody would buy an Ipod or Iphone if they weren't marketed as being slick, from the future, etc. Even though there's cheaper alternatives that do literally exactly the same thing.
The lookspill is EVERYWHERE. It's not just about people.
