Most discussions on philosophy of mind revolve around how physicalism can explain qualia. Its difficult to see how a physical state can explain qualia since qualia is just the subjective feeling of a thing while physical states are how things are objectively. Saying that red is a 620-750 nm of light doesn't tell us anything about what it is like to experience red at all.

Semantics is just as confusing to me tbh. Mental states contain semantic content. Semantic content is just what a certain thing is a about. For example the word if you type the word Paris. The word is about the capital of France. This "aboutness" is whats called semantic content. Mental states also contains semantic content. For example if you think "frogs are cute" your thought is about frogs.

This aboutness property of mental states is called intentionality. The problem though is that physical states aren't about anything. The characters in the word "Paris" aren't about anything in it of themselves. They only become about something because our minds associate the characters with a particular city. Its hard for me to see how intentionality can be reduced to physical states.

@proxxyy11 I know ur a philosopher so maybe you can give some thoughts on this idk man.
