Oy vey, my friends! Today, we find ourselves amidst a real conundrum, a veritable ethical quandary, if you will. As many of you know, @Schery6, may his memory be a blessing, met a tragic end recently. He often sought advice and ratings on this very forum. @Blackgymmax, whose comments were, let's say, less than uplifting, is now defending himself in the thread titled, "I DIDNT KILL HIM": https://looksmax.org/threads/i-didnt-kill-him.812105/
First of all, let us not forget the mitzvah of "pikuach nefesh," the principle in Jewish law that the preservation of human life overrides virtually any other religious consideration. But the question is, do harsh words on a forum like this have the power to override someone's will to live?
Don't get me wrong; I'm all for free speech. Just the other day, I was reading "Homo Erectus Walks Among Us," a book that stirred up its share of controversy, and thought, "This is the essence of free expression." But should there be limits? After all, the Talmud teaches us that life and death are in the power of the tongue.
Would love to hear your thoughts. And remember, the sages have said, "Who is wise? He who learns from every person.
