it didnt. He simply lost masseter muscle due to probably not chewing as constantly due to a displaced bite as he expanded 12 mm expansion. His zygos also grew in bilateral width hence making his masseter muscles and jaw appear smaller

Bcs he only expanded the upper jaw, his lower jaw remained the same size and thus looks smaller beneath his now expanded upper jaw.

I think he’s doing imdo of something for his mandible later.
