Male pattern baldness is considered to be one of the worst possible things to affect a man's appearance. It not only harms one's ability to attract mates of the opposite gender, but harms the perception from one's own male peer group, for example in a business setting or opportunites to climb social ladders.
However, this more-so applies to baldness during the early and late stages. If a man were to be completely bald and forgo the shackles of terminal scalp hair, he would reap multiple benefits. After eliminating focus on a large part of beauty that consumes much of one's thoughts and affects their psyche, much energy is freed up towards chasing more long term goals as well as division of time towards self improvement in aspects that would benefit a man in the long term.
