I talked a kid (man, but acted like a kid) out of killing himself on /pol/ several months ago. He was a NatSoc or whatever you wanna call them...was severely autistic, fat and unbelievably awkward, never been laid or had a gf, and had no friends except for his father who killed himself when he was twelve y/o.
I stayed up about two days talking to this kid. Or, I should say, listening to him. That's all he really wanted, come to find out, since he had no friends and his mother was a drunken degenerate. After a while he trusted me enough to call me (which is surprising given his affliction) and we talked on messenger/video chat whatever. The kid did enough meth during that time to kill a horse...me, not quite as much...eventually after some trickery I managed to talk him into popping a few of his mother's Xanax and after he fell asleep I managed to get her attention, told her where is gun was, and convince her to call the pigs and they hauled him off to the funny farm for a bit.
I spoke to his mother a few times and he's in a rehab and doing better than ever since his father died and dumped all the Nazi shit and made a few real friends where he's staying .
I think Christopher Poole would be proud of himself if he knew that if it wasn't for this fucked up place for fucked up people like him to meet screwballs like me, then that kid wouldn't have anywhere to vent and find someone who's crazy enough to listen to his pain and he'd have shot himself. Sure, he may not save humankind or develope a vaccine or even get a job...but he has a mother and now he has friends and it's because of Christopher Poole....good things can come from chaos.
