Looks are a precursor to social interaction.
We want to be good looking so we can have positive social interactions (more often).
Of course this stuff matters.
It's not necessarily directly related to looks but still related to why we want to be better looking in the first place, i.e., to again, have better social interaction.
It's not just the precursor that contributes to whether or not you have a good interaction with somebody.
