I'll agree with you somewhat although it was mainly diseases that the Spanish and Portugese brought to the new world that wiped out 90+% of the local population

Like that's why island colonies like Jamaica, Cuba etc became uninhabited by the time the Spanish brought African slaves there and it was the same with the Portugese in Brazil, it was mostly European diseases that wiped out locals and made the territories easy to colonise, not cus of the Spanish and Portugese skills in war
