The only time I faced racism

When I used to wear a patka as a kid according to Sikh religion a man must grow out his hair and keep in a turban but as a kid you keep it in a patka until your grown up enough

I remember telling my mom I wanted to cut my hair cuz people laughed at me I remember walking into another class and they just starting laughing I remember how humiliated I felt

I first got my haircut then my brother then finally my dad ended up getting as well

I felt relived cuz now I looked normal like other kids

I never faced racism again in my life so far


But I still feel bad cuz I’m such a pussy but then again I wasn’t even religious

Maybe one day I’ll find Sikhi again let’s see

If I lived back in Punjab I would be wearing one

Obviously the turban is a falio in the west but if I wanted a Sikh queen to marry I would need to keep one like my family friend he had to grow his hair out and start wearing one cuz his girlfriends parents wanted him to wear one

But imagine how my ancestors feel that they sacrificed so much just for their descendants to prioritize their looks instead
