This happens all over the world. I've seen many stories from people who say the same thing. In big cities, mixing races is so normal, but in the small towns, it's frowned upon and seen as someone who betrays their race.

It really depends because there are actually Black/White mixing in parts of the rural Southeast and White/Mestizo and White/Native mixing in parts of the Southwest and Oklahoma.

I've seen it first hand.

In fact, this rural part of North Carolina where a few relatives of mine live is 5% Mixed Race.
