I am a local writer and my stories are known for being so realistic that it makes people want to kill themselves. One time I submitted a paper about slaves in the south never escaping and ending up raped and killed. When they asked why I wrote that, I said “in real life there’s no happy ending”

Honestly enough that’s why I like game of thrones unlike lord of the rings there’s no bullshit intended to make you feel good if a character makes dumb decisions they don’t magically survive because they’re a fan favorite or good guys are supposed to win they just die.
