Management
The job itself is cushy but dead end. So I’ve been wanting to do something else anyway. But the colleague I usually work with is great. We’re always making jokes and shit. So most of the work day is quite enjoyable.
But the managers are cunts. I avoid them. But recently I was trying to book holiday, and they declined it, despite me booking over a month in advance, saying they couldn’t get cover. Bullshit, they’re hiring a bunch of new ethnics and can get agency guys. After a bunch of back and forth, the one decent manager has given me paid “holiday” on the weekends, but I still have no time off. I will lose 7 days of holiday if they don’t give me time off, cos all the weekends are now used up (was 17 days). But in the “employee handbook”, it says they are allowed to deny holidays in March, and the contract I signed says to refer to it, so I can’t sue them.
So that was the first issue (in general I avoid them cos I don’t like them so I don’t have issues). Then, perhaps because they saw me as being a nuisance by asking for my holiday, they are now telling me I’m not allowed to leave site on my lunch break, despite me having done so for 9 months and others doing so. Apparently now I have to ask if I’m allowed to go to the shop, and I have to come straight back. Though I wasn’t even told this directly - instead they told another of my colleagues to tell me
If I quit before April, they will have to pay me for any unused holiday. But idk what to do. I could look for other jobs but idk what. Your colleagues are probably the most important factor for job satisfaction, and I get along with my main guy really well. And no, being NEET doesn’t mog working. Maybe if you had a bunch of money and could do what you want. But sitting at home alone while everyone else is elsewhere, socialising, isn’t good. Spending those hours having a laugh at work and getting paid for it is better.
One day I want to start a shark diving business. I’m gonna get scuba and boating qualifications, and then we’ll see how I could get there.
