The real reason why most monks grow beards

The reason is because they want to hide their pathetic lower thirds by beardfrauding.
Think about it. No one who is good looking (no matter how little) would consider becoming a monk. Only truecels do that because they know that this is their last resort in life other than roping.
And almost all truecels have recessed jaws. Hence, the beard to hide it!

IDK about the West, but in Asia ( China and Vietnam ...), the purpose of this behavior was to show that they were not eunuches. In the past, and nowadays as well, it was an ultimate insult to a man if you say he acts like a woman or look like a woman.
