That is the reason why anime became so popular.

The most popular ones always follow a similar storyline.

The loser has a clear goal in mind, becoming the best at something. His problem is that he isn't cut out for it, he wasn't born with the right skill to do it and everyone ridiculues him for having that goal.

But through sheer dedication and will, he slowly manages to level up and improve, in the end proving everyone wrong and making it.

This is essentially defeating predeterminsm, a concept many people can relate too, both in the west and Japan/Asia.

The only difference to reallife is, that in reallife no matter how hard you work, at some things you will fails. Thats why we seek shelter in these fictional power fantasies, to cope with the fact that in our lives we couldn't defeat the blackpill and are doomed to stay on our predetermined path.
