Almost nobody I know uses alternative media and get 90% of all their news from mainstream sources. The fact that lots of people no longer claim to trust the news doesn't really matter since they will use them anyway to get their information. The internet despite what many think is not meaningfully threatening mainstream media. Even alternative platforms like youtube aren't even alternative anymore and have been basically taken over by the mainstream.

Normies are and always will be NPCs relying on mainstream sources of information because that is where all the cope is.
