I used to have a lot of whiteheads, sometimes inflamed red acne, dull skin, dark spots and hyperpigmentation but this routine cleared it in just 2 weeks

Specific Products I Used:

IUNIK Beta Glucan Power Moisture Serum

- gives hella hydration to skin and has skin barrier repair properties. Beta glucan itself is a lot more effective than hyaluronic acid for hydrating skin. This serum also doesnt have niacinimide, which can irritate some ppls skin, or any other irritating actives

Dr Althea 345 Relief Cream

- extremely praised moisturizer with very good straightforward ingredients and formulation. Very lightweight and non-comedogenic and has lots of skin barrier support. Ppl glaze this moisturizer as if its magic in a tube; it is. Ive never used a more lightweight and soothing moisturizer and this is the only one that hasnt made my skin break out

SKIN1004 Centella Hyalu-Cica Water Fit Sun Serum (sunscreen)

- has both SPF50+ and PA++++ which is great. Very lightweight sunscreen especially compared to others which is crucial when youre layering products. Doesnt clog pores and works well for sensitive irritated skin

Gentle Hydrating Cleanser from Cetaphil

- pretty straightforward, you dont wanna be using cleansers with salicylic acid or anything harsh if youre also using the next 2 products listed as it will overexfoliate and damage your skin

Tazarotene 0.045% Lotion - Arazlo

- the retinoid used in this routine, you can do more indepth research on retinoids themselves and tazarotene but the Arazlo formulation is a top tier one for tazarotene. I managed to avoid significant purging and irritation with this formulation using my routine below

Azelaic Acid 15% Gel

- very synergetic product with the tazarotene and has plenty of benefits of its own. You can do more research on this but its a quite safe product. The "retinoid + azelaic acid" combo has been around for a decade, not just recently with the hype on social media & this forum

^ proof i actually have these products & not just larping

The Routine
(in order)

Morning:
- cleanser and then FULLY rinse off
- partially pat face dry
- serum
- wait a couple mins
- pea sized amount of the azelaic acid gel
- moisturizer
- sunscreen

Night:
- cleanser and fully rinse off
- partially pat face dry
- serum
- moisturizer
- wait 10-15 mins
- smaller pea size amount of tazarotene
- wait 2 mins
- moisturize again

** i used azelaic acid daily & tazarotene 2-3x a week from the start because my skin could handle it and the "sandwich method" with my moisturizer helped. Was able to avoid the terrible purging fearmongered here, just experienced a bit of peeling and whiteheads if anything. **

Habits to follow + general hygiene (just as important as stuff above):

- be gentle with face when cleansing or doing anything else of the skincare. Youre handling delicate skin thats further sensitized from tazarotene, not scrubbing some dishes

- use disposable white paper towels like the ones from bounty to dry face and hands while in process of skincare routine. Pat dry your face after rinsing do NOT rub. Rinse your hands after each step of skincare.

Ive seen many people use the same towel they use to dry their ass and balls to dry their face/hands during skincare which is fucking nasty and idt theres any point of skincare if ur doing that

- shower 2x a day ESPECIALLY if you sweat, or exercised, or been in hot weather, etc. Try avoiding sweating when u can & try to stay in a cool environment (ac, fans, etc)
- wash your pillowcase every other day; wash blanket and bedsheets 1-2x per week

- do not let random shit touch your face throughout the day
- do not unneccesarily touch face with hands

Yeah mainly after the sunscreen, not sure if anything can be done about it as the sunscreen i use is already supposed to be the gentlest

Also does ur skin get kinda sticky and tight after azelaic acid?

bump. I really wanna use my azelaic acid with tret but It's optimal to put azelaic acid on in the morning and tret at night but I can't because I have to shave every morning and my skin gets fucked if I put it on even 1 hour after shaving. What can I do?

Do you absolutely have to shave every single morning though? You can try switching to a less concentrated version of the azelaic acid through a serum form like the Anua 10% azelaic acid serum its rly hyped on tiktok, or just wait longer after shaving
