The sleeping beauty paradox, a simple yet controversial problem in decision theory

This problem is simple and yet it’s incredibly controversial

People have wrote hundred of papers on this debating the answer.

Don’t over think it.

The problem:

Sleeping beauty has an experiment explained to her

The explanation is as follows- A fair coin is tossed. If it lands on heads sleeping beauty will be put to sleep awoken on Monday then put back to sleep.

If it lands on tails sleeping beauty will be put to sleep awoken on Monday as well then put back to sleep and awoken on Tuesday as well, before finally being put to sleep.

Everytime sleeping beauty is put to sleep she will forget any previous instance of having been awoken.

In the small period she is awake the researchers will ask her a question- “What do you belive is the probability that the coin landed on heads?”

How should she answer?
