I think one of the strongest desires humans have isn’t to be loved, but to be understood.
Because being loved while feeling misunderstood can still feel lonely.
A lot of arguments aren’t really about proving who is right. They’re about someone wanting another person to finally see why they became the way they are.
Maybe that’s why people tell their stories so many times. Not because they forgot what happened, but because they’re still hoping someone will react differently this time.
Maybe the reason being misunderstood hurts so much is because it feels like someone is rejecting a version of reality that only exists inside your own head.
And the hardest part is accepting that everyone else is trapped inside their own version of reality too.
Everyone is walking around carrying a story about themselves, hoping someone else will read it correctly.
