It's mostly about diet anyway. If your skin is properly nourished with raw fats and you build sun exposure gradually, you can literally be in the sun all day without burning.

But most humans nowadays consume polyunsaturated seed oils that are highly unstable and readily oxidise under UV exposure, creating free-radical damage and making the skin far more prone to burning, which is what most experience nowadays.

That said, Anglos, for example, obviously aren’t native to environments like Australia, so there is some validity to the ancestry point.
