The term ”Fam” racist?

If I meet a white man and I’m like ”hey fam”. Make sense because we’re sort of extended family and a minority, in a global context.

And then I meet a person that is further away dna wise and I don’t want to say ”fam” to him (or anything at all for that matter).

Am I this horrible racist, that needs to take sensitivity courses or something?
