I just recently finished reading The Triflers, a book about a group of students that have a common interest in gore videos and human suffering. I don't want to spoil the book too much as I recommend that everyone should read it, but I want to focus on a certain character, Mario Quintanilla. There will be light spoilers discussed but its mostly about information early on in the book, anything that would really ruin the reading experience I will put behind a spoiler however. Mario is a half-mexican, overweight, depressed, incel who curses his mother everyday for being a whore and creating a mixed race freak like himself. What intrigued me with Mario is that his portrayal of being an incel is far different than what most pieces of (mostly mainstream) media detail what incels are. Typically they are shown as people who unfairly hate women because I can't breed blah blah blah, but rarely would they actually interact with women, and if they do they are always hateful from the very beginning of their interaction. Mario is different, he does interact with women and is not very hateful towards them, at least in the beginning of their interaction. While Mario has some social communication issues that limit his ability to make friends, he does make small acquaintances here and there, and of those that are women he is for the most part fairly normal. I remember one instance where Mario
Incidents like that really make me feel bad for Mario, I mean his lack of female companionship is not due to a lack of trying or hatefulness at all. Although he does harbor misogynistic sentiments, he does treat women very well and shows them care and kindness. His communication issues are evident in different interactions, however.
There are many instances of him interacting with women that are worthy of note as well, but most of those are too long to really summarize well (you really have to read the book). There are also a number of things that makes Mario so interesting to me like his take on what depression really is and how to cure it, as well as his personal philosophies such as
I wonder what you guys think about this portrayal of a character, as its much different than the evil school shooter incel is normally portrayed as. If you would like to read the book yourself, here's a link to a free digital copy: https://archive.org/embed/thetriflersebook2018
talks to a girl named Nina Cook, they became friends after talking together in english class and sharing their writing with each other. Seeing that Nina was not the most good looking girl out there, Mario thought he had a chance. On Valentine's Day, Mario gifts Nina a bracelet, and some time later receives a bag from Nina and was told not to open it until he was home. Too eager to find out what Nina's potential gift was, he finds the letter in the first attached pic as well as the bracelet.
In one instance, Mario's class got a teacher's assistant that would occasionally make small talk with him. Mario assumed that they were now good friends. So when one day the teacher's assistant would teach the class alone for the second time, he made a joke about her lack of teaching skills and assumed she would take it in jest, she did not and proceeded to cry and leave the room.
the patriarchy being good as women having control of sex has ruined the social dynamic of the world, as now intelligence will be bred out of humans and replaced with brainless jocks and cheerleaders.
