As described on Wikipedia:

Rupert Pupkin is a delusional and aspiring stand-up larper trying to launch his looksmax career. After meeting gookcaprio, a successful comedian and respected forum membert, Rupert believes his "big break" has finally come. He attempts to interact on gookcaprios thread, but is continually rebuffed by everyone, particularly Amnesia, and finally by Gookcaprio himself. Along the way, Rupert indulges in elaborate and obsessive fantasies in which he and gookcaprio are colleagues and friends.

In this new version of "The King of Comedy," the protagonist Rupert Pubkin is obsessed with becoming a popular figure on an online forum rather than a comedian. His idol is not Jerry Langford, but a mysterious user named "Gookcaprio" who is widely respected on the forum.

Rupert spends all of his time on the forum, posting comments, starting threads, and trying to get noticed. He dreams of one day being as popular as Gookcaprio and having thousands of followers.
Despite his efforts, Rupert is largely ignored on the forum and his posts go unnoticed. Undeterred, he continues to post and to idolize Gookcaprio, who he sees as the ultimate example of online success.

One day, Rupert hatches a plan to get Gookcaprio's attention. He decides to kidnap him and force him to reveal his secrets to online success. With the help of his friend Masha, Rupert abducts Gookcaprio and takes him to a remote location.

However, things don't go according to plan. Gookcaprio proves to be a difficult captive, refusing to reveal his secrets and instead lecturing Rupert on the dangers of online obsession. Meanwhile, the police are closing in on Rupert and Masha, and the situation begins to spiral out of control.

In the end, Rupert realizes the futility of his obsession and releases Gookcaprio. He turns himself in to the police, and the film ends with him sitting in his jail cell, finally realizing that true success cannot be found through online notoriety.

Rupert is shown to be very obsessed with @Lone Wolf as he recreated the set of the Jerry Langford show on the basement of the house he lives in with his unseen mother, he is seen various times imaginating scenarios with him and Jerry as best friends. He also asks Rita, a local bar tender to go out on a date with him on which Rita is seen also uncomfortable and annoyed by Rupert's narcisism, once again Rupert seems not to realize this.

The film, which has been reclaimed as a masterpiece by film scholarship and audiences alike over the last two decades, features Scorsese's most deranged protagonist, the low-level, wannabe stand-up comic, Rupert Pupkin (@JudgeandJury ). While he may not have the same violent tendencies as Travis Bickle, Jake LaMotta, or Tommy Devito, Rupert's stalker mentality and obsession with fame disguised as endearing ambition to the public makes him the most dangerous threat to society that Scorsese has ever put on screen.
