"Hair Doesn't Matter"

Before I talk about hairmaxxing, I'm going to address the claim that hair doesn't matter. Obviously, hair won't magically fix your bone structure, and if you're someone who has a top 0.1% face then your hair will look good no matter what (as long as you dont have some fuckass haircut that nerfs you into oblivion)

But if you're not one of these people then your hair can be used to boost your appeal and fraud to reduce or hide flaws in your face.

What cut to get

In general, there are three things to consider when choosing what haircut to get:
  • Will this haircut help hide the flaws in my face
  • Does this haircut match my archetype?
What I mean by hiding flaws in your face is using your hair to influence your head and face shape to your advantage. For example, if you have a high fwhr, then you will, in general, look better with shorter sides and more hair on top, as it will make your face appear slimmer. This is why Barrett looked better with short sides (pre-buccal fat removal)

Now, when it comes to things like overall length, fades, colour/highlights, you should focus on trying to maximise your archetype. In general, having longer hair without fades is more attractive, as you subconsciously are perceived as healthier. I've had multiple occasions of girls at clubs coming up to me just to play with my hair because it's long and curly. But if getting a fade will match your archetype, then go for it.

The same thing goes for things like blonde highlights. If you're tan and trying to maximise a "surfer" look, then blonde highlights with longer hair can help this.

Styling and Hairtype

This is another important thing to consider, you should be using the correct products for your hair type when styling and embracing your natural hair type. If you have completely pin straight hair, you shouldn't be trying to use sea salt spray or curlers to make your hair curly, only texture powder for some volume if it's needed. The same goes the opposite way around, if you have anything over 2b or 2c hair, the only product you should be using is some sort of leave-in conditioner (and some sort of holding or curl cream if necessary).

This was my hair when I tried to force it curly with products that dried it out, like sea salt spray. It looked unhealthy, dry, and wiry.

And this is my hair once I started using a product that hydrated it, and I focused on keeping it healthy.

Your hair type should also influence how much you wash your hair, straighter hair gets greasier faster and should be washed more often. But curlier hair requires more moisture and should be washed less frequently.

Thinning

The last thing to think about is thinning. The younger you are, the earlier you should take action. I'm 19 and about a year ago realised my hairline had receded a bit. I immediately started using topical minoxidil and occasionally dermastamp my hairline, and since then, I've noticed a little bit of hair grow back, and no more recession.

If you are young and are already spotting some thinning on your hairline or crown, the best time to act is now so you don't regret it in the future.

And on a final note, if you're black ignore all this and get dreads.

Archetype is mostly cope tbh, haircut doesn't really matter as well as it's not too short or too long and doesn't look weird

Looks good now since his fat removal made his face look way less wide
