Several states that remained in the Union were slave states (Maryland, Delaware, Kentucky, and Missouri)

Several Amerindian tribes fought for the Confederates (Cherokee, Choctaw, Seminole)

The Confederates, like the Nazis were another group of people whose faults were exaggerated.
