Not exactly. Many drugs do work and therapy can work too. It’s just it’s efficacy that is vastly overestimated and the time for “curing” you. And the body will seek homeostasis so an increase in dose is inevitable.
But some drugs like benzos or amphetamine can be a god send short term.
But genes really dictate you in the long term.
However the brain will adapt to external stimuli so exposure therapy can be effective.

Actually electroshock therapy seems pretty efficient compared to SSRIs (of which I’m no fan). But insulin shock therapy was idiotic.

Yeah so they do work at least short term.

And the brain is plastic. Adapts to changes. If your daily environment is your moms basement, that’s what it adapts to. If drugs help you go out and interact on the daily your brain will also adapt (to the extent your genes allow). Some people are fucked tho
