Japanese don’t know about the dark history of blackface that’s the point. They don’t have the same history with race like Americans that’s why many manga artists stopped drawing black people as blackface because they were told it was racially insensitive and stopped but some like Oda and Akita toriyama (makers of one piece and Dragon ball z) still draw many blacks as this.

Blackface in Western world was done to mock blacks it was 100% racist it was not an art form but a discriminatory form of media used to mock blacks
