The meme about how internet toxicity is an echo chamber and doesn't reflect broader mainstream opinion is bs. Most people do think the things people say online they just don't say them openly. It's just like how we're told tinder isn't real life yet it is.

People are exactly as toxic as the internet would have you believe.

lots of people are discreetly toxic irl, they just have no balls to show theyre toxic.

narcissism, not accepting changes/differences (anything out of ordinary and new is the "weird" for them) not being able to think for themselves and accepting what others accept without even thinking about the opposite
