Both are bad; whichever metrics used to compare which is worse (i.e. deaths, prevalence) doesn’t undermine the other

Someone’s worst day ever is getting fired,
Another losing a loved one,
Another finding out they have 2 months to live

Everyone is still having their worst day; comparing either-or to determine which is worse is stupid and doesn’t invalidate the other.
