In 2000 at camp david, they were offered an independant palestinian state. Israel would start dismantling settlements and give a capital in east jerusalem it was unprecedented compromise that shocked the world. Yasser arafats repsonse was to walk away, no counter offers, no negotiations. President clinton blamed Arafat for the failiure on the deal completely. Instead of bringing his people peace, he returned home to bring war. A couple weeks later the second intifada started. Their answer to this deal? Was to walk in to busy pizzerias with suicide vests, blowing up teenagers waiting outside a nightclub and incinerating entire families on public buses.
