Many christians originally believed in reincarnation, only after some roman emperor convened another religious council it was changed. Mainstream orthodox Christianity from its very beginnings (from the times of first nicene council) was being created and developed by the most powerful and influencial people of the times with a swift and efficient obliteration and eradication of any alternative tradition or interpretation, that state of things continued up until the moment of beginning of the protestant reformation.
