The "collapse" of the US actually means aggressive militaristic action led by an angry rabble of idiots with a government slowly decaying into thuggish totalitarianism. Absolute nightmare fuel. My hope is that fusion energy by the 2050s is able to push the world into enough prosperity to avoid conflict.

The environmentalist movement is ironically become one of the biggest hindrances to world stability. There is no worse way to rachet up the cost of living and increase unrest than to limit energy production and resource utilization. Probably one of the best strategies to avoid world war would be for most major nations to aggressively pursue energy and gas security.
