Thinking about surgery

I had a palate expander for over half a year and witnessed 10mm of sideways expansion, later on I got a reverse pull face mask to fix my recessed maxilla but I feel like nothing is changing, after about 10 hours of wearing it I feel my bone moving forward but if I take it off to eat, the bones move right back after 5 minutes, I wear the mask for over 12 hours a day and I don't see any progress being made. I am considering surgery because of this. Any advice?
