If you have judo learn that too or wresling. But BJJ is solid bro

Don't do karate firstly. Karate is total shit.

I like BJJ and all, but the lack of takedowns/throws does annoy me a lot, hence I cross train judo. If your BJJ place is decent it should teach some basic takedowns.

Muay thai is good too, solid teep kicks and jabs will fuck a lot of people up. How tall are you?

I don't know which one is better. But I would go with BJJ simply because Karate is considered old school self defense and BJJ is considered new school. I didn't even hear of BJJ till maybe 2005

dont bjj its mostly ground techniques and it looks stupid and you wrap your legs around peoples neck to choke them which is gay dont do it

i personally think boxing is a better base cause you are focus on learning to strike first and you train your footwork

its like you throw 10000 punches vs MT or kickboxing where you might throw half as much

can always add in kicks elbow/knees later on

but either would be a great option for striking

Right so the BJJ place I go to is £70 a month (but classes are on everyday) and judo is about £40. At my uni though judo is free, and the bjj class i go to is £50 a month.

If you want cheap BJJ classes, train at an MMA gym, MMA gyms still teach good BJJ and other martial arts and are way cheaper. Only reason I've not joined an MMA gym is because I don't have a car yet, and so the MMA place is too far.

BJJ places do takedowns bro, they mainly focus on ground fighting, but they do cover takedowns - but not in a lot of detail.
